Spy Shots: Volvo XC40 caught testing

Volvo XC40 crossover prototype spotted testing - front three-quarter view

After being spotted in Arizona last month, a completely camo'ed Volvo XC40 has been spotted testing in Southern Europe, getting ready for what everyone expects is a Paris Motor Show debut this September. The five-door hatch was caught completely naked on a closed Norwegian road during a photo shoot, and from the single photo we've seen, it's a looker - a trait that should help it entice C30 buyers when that car goes away as well as take on the German A-segment competition.

The XC40 is part of a holding-maneuver product plan by Volvo while it prepares the next generation of vehicles that will ride on its modular scalable platform architecture. Word is that it will be joined by a C40 and that it will employ the engine selection from the V40, meaning "1.6 and 2.0 litre petrols and diesels," as well as front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive options.

We probably won't get it here in the States, but you can check it out in the gallery of high-res photos.
